A message from the founders, Hugo & Chloe

We’ve all seen and heard the heartbreaking stories of millions of refugees forced to leave their homes and countries. Thankfully, international refugee agencies, religious groups and the American government are working to bring these refugee families to our country, help them to learn English, find homes, and get jobs.

But, all this important work is focused on the adults or even the children in these families. So we asked: who is helping the teenagers in refugee families make sense of their new lives in the U.S.? The answer was: no one.

We started Teens At The Door to fill that gap.

Can you imagine going to a strange new country where you don’t know a lot of other kids, may not even speak the language very well, start going to a new High School and you don’t have a group of friends you can just hang out with.

We are two American teenagers who started Teens At The Door to reach out to those newly arrived refugee and immigrant teens to talk about and give the kind of help that only teens can give other teens.

If you live in any city or town in America that has newly arrived refugee or immigrant teens in your community, join us to start a TATD chapter in your area.
