What We Do
-
We have experience, we know who and what to ask, and we have relationships.
We know how to find the refugee and recently arrived immigrant teens in your area because we did that in our city (Los Angeles) when Afghani teens were arriving here in the summer of 2021 after they were evacuated from their country.
And since then we have spoken to and worked with organizations all over the country about teen refugees. We know how to find teen refugees in your area because we already work with:
• International and National Refugee Organizations
• Religious Organizations
• Local Governments
• Schools
• Local Immigrant and Refugee Social Clubs
-
We introduce you to and help you begin your relationship with the refugee and immigrant teens in your area. This is important because:
• We make sure your introductions go as smoothly as possible and first impressions are the best they can be.
• Refugee and Immigrant parents need to know that their teenage sons and daughters are safe. Having an organization involved in the first meeting will make them more comfortable.
• School districts, religious and refugee organizations will want to see an organization like TATD involved in the first meeting.
• We can get a translator for you if necessary.
-
TATD is there to help you at every step of your journey:
We help you (or you and your friends) create a local chapter of Teens At The Door.
We help run the chapter in any way you need us, such as helping you to:
• Plan meetings
• Organize events
• Get spaces to hang out
And we help you promote your project.
Every TATD project gets their own dedicated page on our site. This makes it easier for people and organizations to find you or your chapter.
You will have a lot of freedom with the content you put on your project page - from pictures to the descriptions and updates. We have to make sure that you stay within our guidelines and respect privacy and different cultures, but we also want to make sure that your page represents your voice and your vision.
You will be able to send direct links to your page to people and organizations to read about what you are doing and to get their support.
Your page will help you recruit American and refugee teens in your area, get attention in local news, and make it easier for you to organize different drives for your chapter.
Plus, you will be able to use a dedicated page and link to your project in a resume for a job or in your applications for college.
-
We will be your hub for all stories and news related to teen refugees and immigrants.
We post stories about your fellow members and other chapters in the TATD community so that you can read what others are doing, get inspired by their successes and the new friendships they are building, and maybe get ideas for your own project.
We post news articles and links to videos about teen refugees and immigrants here in America and around the world.
